Maternity Shoot Inspiration

A maternity shoot with Hello Petal Photography

Next week I am photographing one of my favourite things, a maternity shoot. I have been shooting mainly portraits and food photography of late so I'm really looking forward to this. My brain needed a kick start to get back into this mode of photography so a really good idea is to search the web and find some inspiration. Below is a few of the images I have come across and just love. It's the middle of winter here so I will have to keep in mind my model not getting too cold and turning a lovely shade of blue!

This will be the third baby for my mummy model and maybe the last, so I want this one to be extra special. Something to put on display and not be worried if her nana sees it hehe. Maternity should be flattering, make the mother feel stunningly beautiful and made to feel this was one of the most special moments of their lives. Having had two children myself and had one maternity shoot, I am so pleased I have 'good' pictures of this moment. These are definitely images you will want to look back on and smile from deep within of that precious time you shared nurturing the baby inside.

Four Favorite Pins

Monday, 7 July 2014

I know you all love Pinterest as much as me, I'm a visual type of person (hence my love of design and photography). So I am starting a week 'favourite pins of the week section, four 'pins' that have resonated with me in one way or another.

1. I am a minimalist in the make up department, and never wear bold make up. But date night last week I decided to branch out evvvver so slightly and try some cat eyes. It felt like HUGE black lines but my husband said they didn't look that way, I think I can get used to this!

2. There have been some challenging times in my life of late, and before seeing these words of wisdom I thought that distancing yourself was kind of running away. But sometimes stepping away from something lets you have space to breathe and see whats real.

3. I Love Love Love this apartment, the bare bones wood with white details. Simple and elegant. You don't need the most lavish of products to make something stylish and elegant.

4. This quinoa granola with rhubarb looks devine on a winters morning. We have been trialling more gluten free options for my eldest daughter and she gave this recipe the big thumbs up!

One Apartment - three styles

Thursday, 19 June 2014

How wonderful would it be for someone to come into your home and style your interior in three different ways. Same bare bones, different concepts. To physically see it before you decided would be amazing. Well Peeta Peltola from RAW Design Blog got to do just that. She has captured three looks perfectly, and I have a hard time deciding which I like best. Although I think I am swaying to 'warm' with the beautiful light wood chairs, crisp whites and touches of greenery.

These 3d pictures are a result of her recent work project. Peeta got to style the interior for 'Loft-tehdas' (=loft-factory) concept pictures, which are a part of their marketing material. The project was very interesting, she designed three different concepts: minimal, warm and industrial.

To see more of this project head over to her fantastic blog (full of amazing treats for your interior loving eyes).

Summer Loving

Sunday, 26 January 2014

I love the beach, I love summer full stop. I could go there all day every day for the entire summer if I could. Even a rainy warm summers evening, I get goose bumps about. Picnics, swimming, reading in the dunes. Luckily my kids love it as much as me and the eldest has been rocking beachy salty waves in her hair lately. A 5 minute walk at we are at a lovely swimming beach, warm water and a few bbqs and playgrounds to frequent. Luckily we are only half way through summer and I still have plenty of time for more sand between my toes and swims off the rocks. I hope your enjoying your summer as much as me!

Here's a few 'pins' that have been inspiring my summer lately. If only I was allowed to purchase a combi to perfect my summer love.

Summer Weddings

Tuesday, 14 January 2014

I was privileged enough to be asked to be the photographer at a family wedding over summer. A little nerve wracking when most things I capture are still life! But I said yes and in between gushing over the gorgeous family getting married and looking after my little tear aways running around the venue, I managed to capture a few lovely moments.

A Christmas Moodboard

Here's some images that have been inspiring me this Christmas. No doubt there will also be a dash of pink in there too!

D'Urville Island - Marlborough Sounds

Monday, 25 November 2013

A much needed weekend away in the Marlborough Sounds with the most amazing bunch of friends. The sun shone, the food was divine, our sides hurt with laughter. Fishing, kayaking, walks, jumping off jetties, and a little bit of wine *ehem.* I haven't spent much time in the Sounds, which are on my doorstep, untouched mostly with aqua blue sea and blonde sandy beaches around the many coves dotted with batches.

I was lucky enough to be invited along by some friends, we heli'd in like royalty landing on the front lawn. A bit stunned with the silence of no kids (or husbands!) we settled into the kiwi style batch and picked a bunk. With nothing to do but relax and unwind we set out on the saturday to fish for blue cod, and we weren't disappointed. Topped off with some mussels and a little venison for the one idiot (me) that didn't eat fish. Our host's were just amazing and made us feel right at home.

If you ever get the chance, this place is a must! Right...on to booking in for 2014!
